Meet The Team
After completing beauty school with a cosmetology license, as well as a cosmetology instructor’s license, Jamie began her career at David Velasco Salon in January 2002.
In the many years she has spent with David, she has been to a number of classes and shows including Color Clusters with Dee Levin in Philadelphia PA, Beauty Classics in Columbus OH, and also education with Beth and Carmine Minardi in New York City.
She has also attended courses in cutting and coloring techniques given by Wella, Rusk, Pivot Point, and Toni and Guy. Jamie is part of the educational team in the salon, working side by side with David, training our assistants in advance haircolor techniques and theory.
Jamie is certified in bio ionic relaxing, Rusk relaxing and also the newest Brazilian keratin treatment. She specializes in blondes, trendy modern highlights, double processing, multi-dimensional color, and color corrections. Her vast knowledge of the industry and love of her craft makes her a sought-after stylist.
Jamie’s Personal Side:
Jamie grew up in Bucks County and after living a few years in Pittsburgh has returned to work at our salon again. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, going to the shore, reading, and working out.
Genevieve’s passion for creativity started at a young age as she remembers doing friends and family’s hair.
The artistry for style has always fed her creative spirit. Nothing makes her happier than seeing her clients “look” come together. She has a love for making people feel beautiful.
After college, she decided it was time to pursue what she really wanted She attended Lansdale School of Cosmetology and received her license in Esthetics and a license in Cosmetology.
Luckily right after school, she met David. David mentored Genevieve into a polished stylist by strengthening her technique. She studied with David for a year and a half. She read his books and practiced.
Being at David Velasco Salon has opened many doors for her educational growth. She has traveled with David to numerous hair shows and attended intercoiffure 2011 in New York. She believes that knowledge is power and will always be a student.
Genevieve loves doing color. Anywhere from a hi-lift, sparkling blonde, to a multidimensional foiling brunette. Using the latest foiling techniques are her specialty.
The color possibilities are endless which inspires her creative side. There is nothing more satisfying than someone looking there absolute best. There is just something gorgeous about hair!
Jessica (Star) Since graduating from Empire Beauty School, I’ve been part of the “In-House Training Program” here at David Velasco Salon as well as taken part in Wella/Sebastian classes, In New York City.
Education is truly key in this industry!
I’ve found a real unique salon that I love and the fact that I get to make people feel beautiful and special! Besides working as a hairdresser I am a proud-proud parent to a sweet gorgeous little girl.
As a little girl, I dreamed of becoming a hairstylist. I did each of my dolls’ hair every day at my pretend play-salon.
After graduating from Millersville University with a business degree, I started on my path towards following my dream.
In 2013, I graduated from Jean Madeline Cosmetology School. I began working at David Velasco Salon in 2015 and have continued to learn and enjoy each day there since.
David has helped train me in coloring, cutting and styling. Also, I take classes at the salon in New York frequently to stay current with the latest trends in the industry.
I am lucky to be able to do something that I love each and every day. Making people feel beautiful and impacting their self-perception is the best feeling in the world.
As many stylists do, Marina had a passion for beauty at a young age. She always spent time in her aunt’s small salon and dreamed of one day following in her footsteps. Upon high school graduation Marina made the decision to attend Bloomsburg University to pursue a degree in marketing. She earned this degree in 2009, however, her dream of working in the beauty industry never quite subsided.
In 2014 she enrolled at Jean Madeline Cosmetology School in Philadelphia and began to make her dream a reality. After completing the program at Jean Madeline and earning her Cosmetology License in 2015, Marina was hired at David Velasco Salon as an assistant and began to train under David.
During this time she learned to perfect her skills particularly pertaining to haircolor and hair cutting. “I really wanted to become part of a salon where I knew I would be given further advanced training after I graduated from beauty school, I definitely found that at David Velasco Salon.”
Not only has Marina participated in the In-House Training Program that David provides, she has also joined the salon in many Wella professional cut and color classes held both at D.V.S. and in the Wella Studio in New York City. She believes it is very important to continue education, staying current with the always-changing trends of the industry. She feels that nothing is more satisfying than making people feel great about themselves and giving them the hair of their dreams.
