Meet The Team
After graduating from Lansdale School of Cosmetology in 1990, Dawn began her career at an upscale salon in Doylestown, where she began to perfect her techniques.
Since then, she has expanded her education by attending numerous courses, including the Classic Cuts Course at Vidal Sassoon in Toronto, the Advanced Hair Cutting Course at the Sebastian Institute in LA (and the Wella Studio in NYC), the Aveda Congress Festivals in Minneapolis, and the International Haircolor Exchange in Dallas.
These experiences have expanded her knowledge of hair cutting and coloring techniques. She has also attended various classes and shows given by Rusk, Matrix, and Graham Webb. Dawn takes pride in her commitment to continuing education, as she is constantly advancing her expertise in the latest techniques and styles.
Dawn has always had a passion for hair. Creating a unique look for clients and making them feel great about their appearance is very satisfying and allows her to truly enjoy her job.
Among her favorites are highlight foiling, dimensional coloring, and razor cutting. Dawn worked at two upscale salons before opening her own. After having two children, she realized that juggling a full-time career and a family was too much. As a result, she decided to join us here, at David Velasco Salon where she has worked for the past 15 years.
Dawn’s Personal Side: Dawn enjoys going to the beach, exercising, cooking, and being with her family. She grew up in Plumsteadville and now lives in Doylestown with her husband and two children.

Ever since I was a little girl I dreamed of becoming a hair stylist, believe it or not.
Through the years I became more and more intrigued by the art of haircutting and color. When I got to high school I attended the Middle Bucks Institute of Technology where I was able to begin my education. It didn’t stop there. I graduated from Empire Beauty School with a degree not only in Cosmetology, but a teacher’s license as well.
That was when I found the fabulous David Velasco Salon. Little did I know that I was about to live the experience of a lifetime. I started training with David very shortly after I was hired. After many days of work with David I gained the experience to become a Hair Color Specialist!
I have been to many classes and hair shows with this salon. I was recently at a Wella class in Allentown pa, where we learned new techniques that we can use to enhance our skills on an every day basis. We have been to the Orlando Hair Show, the Atlantic City show and many more!
Being a stylist is extremely rewarding to me in a lot of ways. I love meeting new people and being able to connect with them. It has been dream of mine since I was young and now I’m living it.
Genevieve’s passion for creativity started at a young age as she remembers doing friends and family’s hair.
The artistry for style has always feed her creative spirit. Nothing makes her happier than seeing her clients “look” come together. She has a love for making people feel beautiful.
After college she decided it was time to pursue what she really wanted She attended Lansdale School of Cosmetology and received her license in Esthetics and a license in Cosmetology.
Luckily right after school she met David. David mentored Genevieve into a polished stylist by strengthening her technique. She studied with David for a year and a half. She read his books and practiced.
Being at David Velasco Salon has opened many doors for her educational growth. She has traveled with David to numerous hair shows and attended intercoiffure 2011 in New York. She believes that knowledge is power and will always be a student.
Genevieve loves doing color. Anywhere from a hi-lift, sparkling blonde, to a multidimensional foiling brunette. Using the latest foiling techniques are her specialty.
The color possibilities are endless which inspires her creative side. There is nothing more satisfying than someone looking there absolute best. There is just something gorgeous about hair!
Jessica (Star) Since graduating from Empire Beauty School, I’ve been part of the “In House Training Program” here at David Velasco Salon as well as taken part in Wella/Sebastian classes, In New York City.
Education is truly key in this industry!
I’ve found a real unique salon that I love and the fact that I get to make people feel beautiful and special! Besides working as a hairdresser I am a proud-proud parent to a sweet gorgeous little girl.
As a little girl, I dreamed of becoming a hairstylist. I did each of my dolls’ hair everyday at my pretend play-salon.
After graduating from Millersville University with a business degree, I started on my path towards following my dream.
In 2013, I graduated from Jean Madeline Cosmetology School. I began working at David Velasco Salon in 2015 and have continued to learn and enjoy each day there since.
David has helped train me in coloring, cutting and styling. Also, I take classes at the salon in New York frequently to stay current with the latest trends in the industry.
I am lucky to be able to do something that I love each and every day. Making people feel beautiful and impacting their self-perception is the best feeling in the world.
